Truck driver killed in chain reaction crash near Lancaster

LANCASTER – A truck driver is dead after a chain reaction crash involving three transport trucks on Highway 401, east of Cornwall.

The collision happened in the westbound lanes between Summerstown and South Lancaster (mile marker 808) around 5 p.m. on Tuesday (Jan. 18).

SD&G OPP say a preliminary investigation has determined the first truck ran into the back of a second truck, which then struck a third tractor trailer ahead of it.

The driver of the first rig, a 24-year-old man, died at the scene.

The other truck drivers were not injured.

The identity of the victim is being withheld until relatives are notified.

The crash closed a section of the westbound lanes for several hours on Tuesday night.
