CORNWALL – The chairwoman of the Cornwall Police Services Board says they have a “stellar cast” of applicants to go through to fill the deputy chief’s position.
There are nine applications for the number two position at the police force, the board heard Thursday morning (Nov. 4).
“We’re very pleased…because the caliber of the applicants is most encouraging for Cornwall Police Service. That makes our job difficult but it’s a difficulty we welcome,” Elaine MacDonald said.
The recruitment committee met for the first time Thursday to review the applications. It plans to start scheduling interviews and presentations with selected candidates next week.
The deputy chief’s position was left vacant after Shawna Spowart was promoted to the chief’s position upon the retirement of Danny Aikman this year.
