SOUTH MOUNTAIN – Two people have been charged after a standoff this month with police in South Mountain.

As Cornwall Newswatch first told you, SD&G OPP were at a home near Nelson Road and County Road 1 on Friday, Oct. 8 for a person barricaded inside.

That person gave themselves up after talking with crisis negotiators.

Police now say they were threatened by a woman with a weapon before she shut herself inside and threatened to kill officers if they entered.

A relative, who showed up at the scene, is also accused of interfering with officers.

A 28-year-old North Dundas woman is charged with assaulting police with a weapon, assaulting police, making threats and possession of a dangerous weapon.

A 61-year-old man, also from North Dundas, is charged with obstruction.

Both will appear in a Morrisburg courtroom next month.
