CORNWALL – A couple of Cornwall councillors want to change an oddly configured intersection on Vincent Massey Drive into a roundabout.

In their notice of motion for tonight’s (Monday) council meeting, Couns. Dean Hollingsworth and Todd Bennett say the intersection at Tollgate Road West should be converted and they want it included in the 2022 capital budget.

The councilmen say a “complete costing” for the project should be included as a budget submission for next year’s budget talks.

The cost of a roundabout can range in the neighbourhood of $1 million, depending on the complexity of the project. It cost $2.2 million to build the two roundabouts in Long Sault in 2017.

The notice of motion will not be debated tonight but will be brought back to the next regular council meeting as a resolution, according to the city’s procedural bylaw.
