Multiple crashes on Highway 401 near Summerstown

Update 2:31 p.m. Tuesday: O.P.P. report the road is now cleared and fully open.

SUMMERSTOWN – Provincial police and South Glengarry firefighters were dealing with multiple crashed trucks and cars on Highway 401 near here Tuesday morning.

SD&G O.P.P. say “multiple” tractor trailers left the highway around 6 a.m. and crashed in the median between Summerstown and McConnell Avenue in Cornwall.

There were also two passenger vehicles that spun out into the ditch in the same area, police said.

There are no reported injuries.

A section of the westbound lanes of Highway 401 were closed this morning but one lane has since reopened (as of 10 a.m.).
