PRESCOTT-RUSSELL – The region’s medical officer of health says the latest novel coronavirus case was the result of travel to Quebec.
Dr. Paul Roumeliotis told reporters Thursday that the person in their 60s likely had contact with an infected person while camping in Quebec.
The new case brings the regional total to 177 with 156 of those resolved – two more than the previous day.
- Prescott-Russell – 118 cases (101 resolved and 11 deaths)
- SD&G – 34 cases (31 resolved)
- Cornwall – 25 cases (24 resolved)
Outbreak declared in Maxville
Roumeliotis added that an outbreak had been declared at Maxville Manor this morning (Thursday) where an asymptomatic staff member tested positive for the virus during routine testing.
The case – in SD&G – did not show up in today’s stats but will be reflected in Friday’s numbers as the region’s 178th case.
He added that there is “no evidence of anything going on” at the nursing home but all staff and residents are being tested as a precaution.
