CORNWALL – Local Medical Officer of Health Dr. Paul Roumeliotis shared numbers Wednesday afternoon showing nearly 800 coronavirus tests have been performed in the health unit region.
Most of the five centers across Cornwall, SD&G and Prescott-Russell have been open a little less than two weeks with the exception of Hawkesbury – the first one to open.
Here are the numbers of tests performed to date and the date the centers opened:
- Cornwall – 198 tests – opened April 2
- Winchester – 51 tests – opened April 1
- Casselman – 165 tests – opened April 2
- Hawkesbury – 292 tests – opened March 23
- Rockland – 90 tests – opened April 7
All the clinics are open on weekdays and the Rockland location is also open Saturdays.
With the new directive from the provincial government to do more testing, Roumeliotis expects those numbers to increase substantially.
There have been 61 positive cases in the region: 10 in Cornwall, 15 in SD&G and 36 in Prescott-Russell. Two of the positive cases are health care workers – both worked in the Ottawa area.
