Update 12:17 p.m. Tuesday: Victim identified in Highway 138 crash near Bonville
Update 10:55 p.m. Monday: O.P.P. say the section of Highway 138 has reopened to traffic.
BONVILLE – One driver is dead and a second is in critical condition in hospital after a head-on crash on Highway 138 near Bonville.
The crash happened just before 4 p.m. on a stretch of the highway between Wheeler Road and McPhail Road, south of Bonville.
The crash involves passenger vehicles, SD&G O.P.P. said.
The driver of the northbound vehicle was pronounced dead at the scene. The driver of the southbound vehicle is in critical condition in hospital. Two passengers in the southbound vehicle were also treated at hospital for serious non-life threatening injuries.
South Stormont firefighters, Cornwall-SDG Paramedic Services and SD&G O.P.P. are on the scene.
A section of Highway 138 between Wheeler and McPhail Roads is closed and will likely be for some time for an investigation and cleanup.
Detours are in place.
