CORNWALL – City police have arrested and charged five people after carrying out two search warrants Tuesday morning.

Four departments from the Cornwall Police Service searched homes on Cumberland Street and Edward Street as part of an ongoing investigation.

Officers seized cocaine, cannabis, meth, other pills, a taser, a replica knife, another knife and both Canadian and American cash at the two homes.

Police say the combined street value of the drugs and cash is $47,000.

“The Cornwall Police Service is pleased to see the successful execution of both drug warrants,” Insp. Chad Maxwell said. “We are committed to protecting our community from illicit drugs, and will continue to use all available resources and investigative techniques to prevent these drugs from getting into the hands of our youth and vulnerable members of our community.”

Five people, all from Cornwall and ranging in age from 31 to 46, are facing drug-related charges.
