SOUTH DUNDAS – A section of Highway 401 has reopened Monday morning (9:30 a.m.) after an overnight crash, possibly involving some serious injuries.

The collision happened in the eastbound lanes of the highway between Carmen Road in Iroquois and County Road 31 (Bank Street) in Morrisburg around 11:30 p.m. Sunday night.

By 11:50 p.m., police had also closed the westbound lanes and the scene remained that way overnight.

“There definitely was some injuries but I don’t have any information on it at this point,” O.P.P. spokesman Bill Dickson told Cornwall Newswatch. “There was probably some serious injuries involved.”

Dickson did say it was not a fatal collision.

It’s also not known how many vehicles were involved.

More information is not expected until Tuesday.
