
CORNWALL – A man and a woman are facing a number of charges after an armed robbery at the Lorneville Apartments early Monday morning.
Police say the duo got into the victim’s apartment at 1430 First Street East around 3 a.m., where they pistol-whipped and beat him.
A handgun was also pointed at the victim while the suspects took electronics and cash.
Cornwall officers and paramedics were on the scene shortly after the robbery, where the victim was treated for non-life threatening injuries.
“The incident is believed to be an isolated occurrence where the parties are known to each other,” police said in a statement.
Two people have since been arrested.
Jose Acevedo Ovando, 20, of Cornwall and Kimber Lee Long, 25, of Gatineau, Que. are each facing a dozen charges which include robbery with a firearm, break and enter, and forcible confinement.
Long is also facing an additional charge of breach of probation.
Both are being held for a bail hearing in a Cornwall court.
