CORNWALL – A driver has been charged with failing to remain at the scene after a cyclist was struck Monday night on Marleau Avenue.
The Cornwall Police Service says the 13-year-old boy was struck by a vehicle on Marleau near Iroquois Drive around 7:45 p.m. and the driver sped away.
He was located by police shortly after the collision.
He has been charged with fail to remain under the Highway Traffic Act (HTA). The penalty is a ticket – up to a $2,500 fine – and six demerit points.
The driver’s identity was not released as CPS spokesman Stephanie MacRae says their policy is not to release names of people charged under the HTA.
The boy was treated by paramedics but did not sustain serious injuries, MacRae added.
