Update 9:04 a.m. Tuesday: Two arrested in connection to the search.

LONG SAULT – Residents of a Long Sault neighbourhood are being told to stay indoors as O.P.P. conduct a search for a driver on the run after a police chase started in Quebec.

A resident tells Cornwall Newswatch that provincial police told them to stay indoors just after 7 p.m. According to the resident, the search was around French Street and Mille Roches Road.

Police say it’s a search for a driver involved in a chase in Quebec.

“Basically it was vehicle that didn’t stop in Quebec for a traffic violation. They called it off. It came into Ontario and was involved in a collision and the person in the car bailed out and took off on foot,” O.P.P. East Region spokesman Bill Dickson told Cornwall Newswatch.

He says no one was injured in the collision.

Dickson says there were no weapons seen and there is no risk to the public.

“People need not fear but keep their eyes open,” he said. “There’s no public safety threat.”
