CORNWALL – Organizers of a Cornwall business booster program are thrilled with a big jump in applications and the ideas coming across their desk.
Cornwall Heart of the City spokesman Todd Lihou told Cornwall Newswatch they received 21 applications for the second edition of Win This Space as of the cutoff on Friday.
That’s up from the 12 it received last year during the inaugural run of the contest.
“We’re thrilled with the response we received this year and the ideas these entrepreneurs have are incredible,” Lihou said.
Lihou will be meeting with the applicants this week and then they will go through a series of training workshops with the Cornwall Business Enterprise Center.
The contestants will be whittled down to a final five for the Sept. 10 Dragon’s Den-type competition for the grand prize – $1,000 a month for one year for lease or rent – to locate somewhere around the downtown core.
Last year’s winner was Fairy Sweet.
