KINGSTON – A South Glengarry high school student crafted out a win and will be moving on to the provincial Skills Ontario Competition next month.

Nicholas Oeggerli won the individual carpentry category in the skilled trades contest by building a doghouse during a regional qualifying round in Kingston last weekend.

Oeggerli, a Grade 11 student at Char-Lan District High School, won a $500 St. Lawrence College bursary. He wants to study carpentry or cabinet making after high school.

“It feels pretty good and I’m really excited about the provincials,” Oeggerli said. “I hope I can do well there.”

The provincial skills competition is May 6-8 in Toronto.
