CORNWALL – An Akwesasne man is facing an number of charges after a fight with police inside a convenience store Tuesday, where the accused tried to get a hold of a cop’s gun.

Cornwall police say they happened to be at the Montreal Road store on another matter when a customer tried to pass off a fake U.S. $100 bill to the cashier.

That’s when police stepped in and a fight started where the accused grabbed for the officer’s gun, the Cornwall Police Service said.

A 20-year-old Akwesasne man was eventually arrested and charged with using counterfeit money, assaulting police with the intent to resist arrest, disarming a police officer and breach of probation for failing to keep the peace.
