
Update 4:10 p.m. Monday: The winter storm watch has been upgraded to a winter storm warning.
SD&G – A major winter storm is expected to barrel into SD&G on Tuesday with up to 35 centimeters (13.8 inches) of snow and wind topping 80 kilometers an hour.
Environment Canada issued a winter storm watch this afternoon (Sunday) as the forecaster calls for 25-35 centimeters (9.8-13.8 inches) of snow starting on Tuesday through Wednesday.
The wind from the Colorado low will be gusting out of the east up to 80 kilometers an hour causing blowing snow and treacherous driving conditions.
“Avoid travel is possible. Rapidly accumulating snow could make travel difficult over some locations,” the weather agency said.
A winter storm watch is issued with various types of severe winter weather – in this case, lots of snow and high wind – are expected to occur together.
