
CORNWALL – The Cornwall Regional Task Force has seized nearly 700 kilograms of contraband tobacco in South Glengarry.
Officers on border security patrol, stopped a pickup truck leaving the St. Lawrence River shoreline on Wednesday last week (Jan. 9) after a boat pulled in and dropped off some goods.
Officers seized 692 kilograms (1,525 pounds) of fine cut tobacco, as well as the truck – a 2001 Ford F-150.
A 42-year-old Akwesasne man has been charged with possession of unstamped tobacco under the Excise Act.
