WINCHESTER – The Winchester District Memorial Hospital has received a Christmas gift of sorts.
The hospital auxiliary delivered a new ultrasound machine to the diagnostic imaging department this month – a $116,000 piece of equipment.
It was bought with money raised throughout the year by the auxiliary, which included gifts from people’s estates after they died and from gift shop sales.
“Many people are surprised to learn that the gift shoppe is the biggest fundraiser that the auxiliary runs,” WDMH Auxiliary Co-president Elinor Jordan said.
Fundraising is already underway for two more units.
