CORNWALL – A Cornwall-based cell phone app for sports fans has won first place in a pitch night before the Cornwall Innovation Center.

FanSaves, which allows fans to save bucks at businesses sponsoring their favourite teams, took home $2,500.

CEO Shannon Ferguson said it was “so special” to win in Cornwall, while still pitching their app in big cities.

Second place went to 3D printing business The Mad Makery ($1,000) and third place was Sassy Threads ($500), which makes weighted vests for autistic children.

Seven startup firms pitched their ideas Tuesday before a CIC judging panel.

Another pitch competition by the business incubator is expected next year.
