SD&G – Two SD&G municipalities have received grants to help with long term municipal planning.
South Dundas is getting $50,000 from the Federation of Canadian Municipalities (FCM) to do a roads needs study and buy asset management software.
South Stormont received $65,200 for an environmental assessment (EA) of the former Beaches Pub property, setting it up for future development.
South Stormont planner Peter Young says they have received offers to develop the property, south of the Long Sault Plaza, but those never panned out because of the lack of environmental studies.
The municipalities applied for the grants in April. There was $4.5 million given out yesterday to 109 projects across Canada.
