Most St. Lawrence College grads working after school, study shows

KINGSTON – A survey of post-grad students from St. Lawrence College show nearly nine out of every 10 are working after they graduate.

The college shared the figures Tuesday as part of its Key Performance Indicator (KPI) survey.

It shows 89.7 per cent of graduates are working within six months of graduating – higher than the provincial average of 85.7 per cent.

But that work may not be in the exact field of learning they went through college for.

SLC spokesman Laura Tulchinsky told Cornwall Newswatch grads will “enter careers that use the skills and competencies” they learned but “aren’t a direct match” in their field.

Here are some of the other survey stats:

  • 85.1 per cent of SLC grads were satisfied or very satisfied with the quality of their education
  • 75.5 per cent of SLC students were satisfied or very satisfied with the quality of education
  • 89.2 per cent of employers were satisfied or very satisfied with the SLC grads they hired

The numbers are gathered by two independent research firms for Ontario’s colleges.
