CORNWALL – Around 6,000 Jehovah’s Witnesses are expected in the city for two weekends as part of their annual convention.

The first Watchtower convention session starts today (June 15) through Sunday and the second one will be next weekend – June 22-24.

This is the 21st year for the religious gathering. Jehovah’s Witnesses spokesman Wayne Gratton says Cornwall truly is a convention city with a “down home” feeling.

The theme for this year’s convention at the Cornwall Civic Complex is “Be Courageous”.

Restaurants and businesses will be busier than usual. It’s estimated the JW convention pumps more than $1 million into the local economy.
