SDSG – It’s Election Day across Stormont-Dundas-South Glengarry.
Polls opened at 9 a.m. and will be open until 9 p.m. across the region.
Progressive Conservative incumbent Jim McDonell already cast his ballot in Lancaster during the advance polls. He will be at Ramada Cornwall tonight to press the flesh with supporters during an election night party in the Adirondack Room at 7:30 p.m.
New Democrat Marc Benoit says they are working on a “pretty good get-out-the-vote effort” today across the riding and he’s been overseeing that process. NDP supporters will then gather at his Pitt Street campaign office to see the results come in before a celebratory get-together at Schnitzel’s.
Liberal Heather Megill is working at her campaign office at 327 Montreal Road today. “We’ve been manning our phones and drivers have been taking people to the polls. We’re also doing some paperwork,” Megill said.
Like McDonell, Megill also voted in the advance poll. She is upbeat about the election and is looking forward to tonight’s results and “hopefully the good news for Ontario.”
Also running are Green Party Candidate Elaine Kennedy and Libertarian Sabile Trimm.
The Liberal and Green party campaigns will be joining the NDP, where all three will be at Schnitzel’s on Pitt Street for the wrap on Election Day.
