CORNWALL – No foul play is suspected after the body of an elderly woman was found in the St. Lawrence River last night (Wednesday).
The Cornwall Community Police Service was assisting Ontario Provincial Police in the search for an elderly woman “because of concerns for her safety,” Cornwall Const. Dan Cloutier told Cornwall Newswatch.
A city police officer made the grim discovery close to the Seaway International Bridge.
The regional coroner’s office is now handling the investigation.
The woman’s name is not being released “out of respect for the family.”
