SD&G – The United Counties of SD&G has unveiled its first stand-alone guide for events and attractions across the six lower-tier municipalities.

County staff unveiled the 53-page full colour visitor guide this morning, which highlights events and attractions, food and drink, arts and culture and sport to name a few.

“The guide itself has had tremendous support from the entire community,” Tourism Coordinator Shauna Baggs said.

“It’s a testament to all the hard work that went into producing the guide in-house,” CAO Tim Simpson added, noting that all the pictures in the guide are local shots – no stock photography.

The guide includes a pull-out postcard and “(we) invite them (people who have the tourism guide) to send it out to their family and friends to promote our area to all visitors,” Baggs noted.

MP Guy Lauzon was also on hand for the unveiling.

This is the first guide since the City of Cornwall and the United Counties of SD&G decided in 2016 to go either separate ways on the tourism file after the county felt it wasn’t getting enough bang for the buck under Cornwall and the Counties Tourism.
