AVONMORE – The O.P.P. are saying little about a huge police presence in Avonmore Monday night.
Roughly a dozen cruisers descended on the town and set up a command post at the Rockin’ Ronda’s restaurant at the intersection of County Road 43 and Avonmore Road (County Road 15).
It was a joint operation between Russell County O.P.P. and SD&G O.P.P. The SD&G detachment referred requests for information to Russell County O.P.P. as it was their case.
But Russell County O.P.P. are saying little, if anything, about the case.
“The O.P.P. responded with the appropriate resources to a reported incident in the area. No charges were laid, there were no injuries and the incident is closed,” Const. Cynthia Savard shared in an email to Cornwall Newswatch.
Unconfirmed reports suggest Russell County O.P.P. were tracking a possibly despondent man with a firearm from Embrun to Avonmore.
