SD&G – The SD&G County Library has received a provincial award for innovation.

The county library won in the medium-sized libraries category for the 2017 Minister’s Award for Innovation during the Ontario Library Association Public Library Service Awards last week.

The county started a library service in 2015 without actual branches, called “Library Express”, after doing a pilot in Williamsburg during the branch shutdown for construction.

The system allows people in communities not serviced by a branch to order materials, which are then dropped off at a local business for pickup. There is also a book return at the partner business.

There are locations in Glen Walter, St. Andrews West and Dalkeith.
