WINSTON-SALEM, N.C. – The Cornwall Nationals took the majority of a triple-header against the Carolina Thunderbirds over the long weekend.

Cornwall edged Carolina 6-5 in a game that had to be carried over from Friday night into Saturday due to unsafe ice conditions.

Then later Saturday night, the Nationals scored another victory – this time 4-1.

The final game New Year’s Eve saw Cornwall fall 2-1 to the southern team.

The Cornwall Nationals stand atop the Federal Hockey League standings with 38 points, tied with Port Huron, with a game in hand.

The Nationals are back in action Sunday (Jan. 7) when they entertain the cellar-dwelling North Shore Knights.
