CORNWALL – Fire investigators are expected to be on the scene Tuesday after a fire at a Pitt Street restaurant.
City firefighters from both stations were at the Rendez-Vous Restaurant at 1213 Pitt Street around 10 a.m. Sunday.
Fire Chief Pierre Voisine told Cornwall Newswatch there were no injuries.
Guylaine Lefebvre, owner of the restaurant, posted on her Facebook page that the workplace has been destroyed.
“Very sad day indeed. Thank God no one was hurt. Nothing left to salvage. Will have to start everything from scratch. The Rendez Vous has been my whole life for almost ten years. It’s been my home with the good and the bad. I’m totally devasted but I have wonderful people in my life; friends, family, staff, and all the great patrons who all together made this bar the best little bar in town,” she wrote.
No other details were available as a fire investigation isn’t expected to start until after the holiday weekend.
