CORNWALL/SOUTH STORMONT – Emergency crews were on the scene Sunday night of a single vehicle crash on Highway 401 near Cornwall.

A pickup truck had ended up in the median of the freeway, west of the Brookdale Avenue interchange, around 6:20 p.m.

SD&G O.P.P., Cornwall firefighters and paramedics were on the scene.

East Region O.P.P. Acting Sergeant Angela Atkinson told Cornwall Newswatch, one lane of the highway had to be shut down but has since reopened.

Atkinson said the lone male driver was extracted from the truck by firefighters and taken to hospital.

She said his injuries are considered serious but non-life threatening.
