Crash on McConnell near South Branch Road

CORNWALL – Firefighters had to use the Jaws of Life to free a person from a vehicle after a crash on McConnell Avenue, south of South Branch Road.

Emergency crews were called at 10:42 a.m. to the two vehicle collision roughly 50 feet south of the intersection, near a side street (Helen Street).

Cornwall firefighters, Cornwall police, SD&G O.P.P. and four ambulances with the Cornwall-SDG Paramedic Service were all on scene.

Cornwall police tell CNW one person was taken to hospital with unknown injuries. Another source with knowledge of the event tells Cornwall Newswatch that a man was extricated from a car at the scene and taken to hospital.

CPS Sgt. Scott Coulter said the victim has “moderate injuries.”

As of 12:18 p.m. the streets have reopened to traffic.
