Cornwall employee charged with fraud

CORNWALL – City police have charged a man from Timmins, Ont. with fraud in connection to missing money from a local business.

Police allege the accused had funneled money from his employer on several occasions this year by crediting his own bank account.

They started an investigation after receiving a call from the business.

The accused turned himself into police on Wednesday (Dec. 28).

Jonathan Cox, 34, of Timmins, Ont. is charged with ten counts of fraud under $5,000.

Police did not say exactly how much money was taken nor who the employer was, as it’s CCPS policy not to release the identity of victims.

Cox was released and will appear in court at a later date.
