Drought is over: SNC

FINCH – The conservation authority overseeing a good portion of SD&G has declared an end to the drought that plagued the region this summer.

The South Nation Conservation Authority lifted its six month drought advisory on Wednesday (Dec. 7).

The authority says a wet fall has helped to bring rivers and streams back and “the ground is saturated.”

But some damage may be long lasting.

The SNC notes that damage to trees – some of which seemed to turn to fall-like colours this summer under the stress of no water – will be felt for a number of years.
