CORNWALL – Two people have been arrested for allegedly preying on another family member in order to collect employment insurance.
City police allege the 53-year-old man and 40-year-old woman used the victim’s identity to collect EI between November 2014 and August 2015.
The couple were arrested Thursday (Dec. 8). The man was charged with identity theft and 20 counts of fraud. The woman was charged with identity theft and 13 counts of fraud.
Both will be appearing in Cornwall court in January.
Police did not release the suspects’ names in order to protect the victim’s identity.
