CORNWALL – Three Cornwallites charged with animal cruelty have made their first court appearance.
Sara Bender, Darlene Bender and Roy Langevin were in a city courtroom Thursday for their first appearance after the SPCA laid charges.
Two sickly dogs – one that could not stand up – were surrendered to the SPCA after an investigation in October.
Both Boxer mix dogs are now getting veterinary care and are being nursed back to health.
The Benders and Langevin are facing two counts each of causing unnecessary pain, suffering or injury to an animal and two counts each of failing to provide adequate food, water, shelter and care.
They will next appear in a Cornwall court on Thursday, Nov. 17, 2016.
