CORNWALL – With multiple delays, the contractor and the federal government have “revised their construction schedule” on opening the intersection at Brookdale Avenue and Second Street.

The city announced Friday the intersection – which handles about 4,000 vehicles a day – won’t open for another two weeks.

“The Contractor’s objective is to have this intersection fully paved by November 4 so that future re-closing of the intersection is not required,” the city said in a statement.

The tentative opening date is now Friday, Nov. 4, 2016.

The delays are no doubt frustrating drivers as this is the third time the Federal Bridge Corporation and Bray Construction have promised to open the crossroads and have not met their self-imposed timeline.

The intersection has been closed since the day after Labour Day.
