CORNWALL – After being closed for nearly a year, Cornwall’s Nativity Co-Cathedral will reopen next week.
The Diocese of Alexandria-Cornwall announced Monday, the church at 220 Montreal Road will open Thursday, Sept. 8, 2016 for the feast day of the Nativity of the Blessed Virgin Mary.
The opening mass, officiated by Archbishop Terrence Prendergast, will happen at 7 p.m.
The Nativity Co-Cathedral has been closed since just before Christmas last year after structural problems were found in the choir loft.
In March, the diocese hired a contractor to make the repairs over the summer.
Mass has been taking place at two other churches while the structural reinforcement was being done.
