MORRISBURG – An opportunity in SD&G is available to learn about the history of British Home Children.

Ontario East British Home Child Family, in partnership with the St. Lawrence Parks Association, is having displays detailing the history of the young children who came over from Great Britain from the 1870s to the 1940s.

Many of them worked as indentured servants on farms and homes and a lot of them settled in SD&G.

The displays at the Aultsville Train Station in Crysler Park, east of Morrisburg, will happen this weekend (Aug. 20-21) and on Aug. 27-28, Sept. 3-5, Sept. 10-11 and Sept. 17-18.

It’s open between 11 a.m. and 4 p.m.

The 2016 commemoration of British Home Child Day in Ontario will happen Sept. 24, 2016 in Perth, Ont., which will coincide with the 200th anniversary of the town.
