CORNWALL – Cornwall’s parks department has cleaned up the weekend damage to Cornwall’s cenotaph at Legion Memorial Park.

A department worker was out with a pressure washer this morning (Monday) to clean away the dark green paint used to scribe a scrawling set of initials across the memorial.

City police are still investigating.

Const. Dan Cloutier told Cornwall Newswatch the criminal investigation branch was “optimistic” on the progress of their investigation and more information would likely be coming at some point Tuesday.

The act drew an unprecedented response from people on social media, many of whom were disgusted with the person or persons who would put graffiti on a tribute to those who served this country overseas.
