SD&G – The head of the SD&G O.P.P. is leaving for a management position with the force.
Insp. Brendan ‘BJ’ MacDonald will be starting a new senior management position at the O.P.P. Eastern Regional Headquarters in Smiths Falls in less than two weeks.
County Police Services Board Chairman Dennis Fife said the board had a “good rapport” with MacDonald and has “worked together extremely well.”
“We wish him all the best in his new position, and look forward to maintaining positive relations with the SDG detachment and his successor,” Fife stated.
MacDonald was brought on in May 2013 after Insp. Mike McDonell left to lead security detail at the Toronto Pan-Am Games.
Staff Sgt. Mike Mulhearn will be filling in as detachment commander until a successor is named, which will be up to the O.P.P. and the police services board.
