CORNWALL – A “bed-ridden” Melissa Menzies has had her sentencing hearing delayed again until late January.
Her lawyer, Donald Johnson, updated the court Monday morning on Menzies’ recovery.
The former BMO bank manager in Cornwall had “successful” spinal surgery on Nov. 23, 2015 and is “bed-ridden for some period of time,” likely six to eight weeks, Johnson told court.
The Crown, acting on behalf of Assistant Crown attorney Matthew Collins, indicated it’s being regularly updated on Menzies’ medical condition.
She has recently endured a number of health issues, including a fall down a flight of stairs where she broke her leg, the court heard in June.
Menzies used her position at the Pitt Street institution to defraud clients of more than $180,000 in 2012 and 2013.
The case will be heard again Jan. 28, 2016.
