Carload charged in Highway 401 drug bust

SOUTH STORMONT – A group of people from the Greater Toronto Area are facing drug possession charges after a traffic stop here.

An SD&G O.P.P. officer pulled over a vehicle with five people in it on Friday (Oct. 9) afternoon.

Police said one of the people got in a confrontation with officers and resisted arrest after police found marijuana in the vehicle.

A 25-year-old man from Burlington is charged with resisting a police officer and possession of a controlled substance.

The other four suspects – a 25-year-old girl from Aurora (the driver); two men, 25 and 28, from Whitchurch-Stouffville; a 25-year-old man from Markham – have been charged with drug possession.

All five will appear in a Cornwall court Dec. 22.
