CORNWALL – What some people thought was a small explosion in the area of Cornwall Collegiate and Vocational School tonight (Tuesday) was police carrying out a drug bust.
Cornwall Community Police Service (CCPS) Sgt. Trevor Butler told Cornwall Newswatch, members of the Street Crime Unit and the Emergency Response Team searched a home on Monroe Avenue around 7:35 p.m.
Monroe Avenue is a small dead-end street off Sydney Street, between Fourth and Fifth.
“There was no gunfire and the scene is secured by CCPS,” Butler said, referring to the bang people may have heard.
The bang was a distraction device thrown into the home during the bust.
Police have made no arrests.
There were no injuries.
CCVS was in a “hold and secure” for a brief period as a precaution, said Butler.
No other details are being released as an investigation is ongoing.
