Ottawa stabbing victim had Cornwall connection

OTTAWA – The loss of a teenager’s life in Ottawa in rippling through the Cornwall community.

Issaiah Clachar, 17, died Sunday morning – shortly after midnight – after he was stabbed outside an apartment complex on Jasmine Crescent in Gloucester.

Clachar died of his injuries at the Children’s Hospital of Eastern Ontario (CHEO).

Ottawa police said the incident was drug-related and there was a fight between two groups of young males prior to the stabbing.

The death has sent shock waves through the community at Cornwall Collegiate and Vocational School where he had been a student in the past, until reportedly moving to Ottawa roughly a year ago with his mother.

Two other men – one 23-years-old and the other in his 20s – were being treated for wounds associated with the case.

Two men have been arrested.
