Eleventh Street crash victim charged with drug possession

CORNWALL – A driver who plowed though an e-bike and scooter display before smashing into a hydro pole has been charged with drug possession.

The Thursday afternoon crash on Eleventh Street West sent a 31-year-old Spencerville man to hospital after emergency responders pulled him from the wreck.

Police allege they later found marijuana and Fentantyl – a prescription painkiller – in the victim’s possession.

He was charged with a promise to appear in a Cornwall court Sept. 3.

The cause of the collision is still under investigation.

Witnesses said the truck suddenly accelerated several hundred feet down the street before hitting the store display and utility pole.
