CORNWALL – The change rooms for the former Cornwall soccer dome have been destroyed by fire.

The blaze at, what was known as the Cornwall City Sports Center, happened around 2:30 a.m. on Tuesday.

Fire Chief Pierre Voisine told Cornwall Newswatch they were unable to investigate the cause of the fire as it was too advanced when crews arrived.

Police are not involved in the case, said Voisine.

The fire prompted a second call a day later as firefighters had to go around 2:30 Wednesday afternoon to put out a flare-up from the debris.

The site on Saunders Drive was decommissioned in April 2011 and indoor soccer was moved to the Benson Center.
