Relay for Life has more daylight hours

MAXVILLE – In a marked departure from Relay for Life events in years past, the event was mostly a daylight affair this year.

The event at the Maxville fairgrounds for the Canadian Cancer Society ran from noon on Saturday until midnight.

In the past 14 years, it ran overnight from 7 p.m. Friday until seven in the morning on Saturday.

The amount raised was down this year – 60 teams collected $200,000 compared to the $264,000 pledged in 2014.

The next Relay for Life is in two weeks (June 20) at Crysler Park in Morrisburg, which will also be a noon to midnight walk.

For more information on registering for the Morrisburg event go to the Relay for Life website.
