HOGANSBURG, N.Y. – Fire has leveled a good portion of a gas station and convenience store popular with Cornwallites.

The fire at the Twinleaf Store on State Route 37 in Hogansburg, N.Y., just a few kilometers from the border, happened around 1:30 a.m. on Sunday.

Several witnesses posted on Twitter that a van had caught fire outside the building and the flames had quickly spread to the main building.

The driver was reportedly inside the store at the time.

In video from the scene, the Hogansburg-Akwesasne Fire Department could be seen racing to the scene minutes after the van fire started.

As of Sunday afternoon, a portion of the building was still standing but most of it had been levelled by the fire.
