CORNWALL – The city has formed a short-term single-tasked committee to draft a code of conduct for councillors.
City councillors agreed Monday night to form the so-called ad-hoc committee with seven members.
The exact makeup of the committee will include the human resources manager, Clerk Helen Finn and CAO Norm Levac and councillors Justin Towndale, Brock Frost, Bernadette Clement and Mayor Leslie O’Shaughnessy.
Coun. Bernadette Clement agreed the committee could get the code put together in two meetings at the most and it would come back to council for approval.
Mayor Leslie O’Shaughnessy noted that some policies already on the books – such as the covenant passed in June 2013 – will have to be addressed.
Meanwhile, the city is collecting public feedback on the proposed code, which will be gathered online until the Friday before the next council meeting (May 22).
